Upgrade to 7 blockers - ask me anything

What’s blocking you from upgrading?

6.2 is now LTS, so if it works in 7.0, but not 7, then unless something else in 7 is prevents upgrading…

If your are moving from 5.4, jump to 7, don’t waste time time incrementing tech debt, 7 will save you money… but if your time is valuable, how about support Lucee?

FYI on my radar, ORM & websockets

No such thing as a wrong answer, unless you don’t explain why!

So are the memory issues resolved in 7? I have a pretty heavy use server, we upgraded to 6.2…stable current awhile back and had nothing but issues with non-heap memory / metaspace usage run aways every 3 days. We reverted to 6.2.4.21-RC and now we can run for about week and half before running into OOM issues with the non-heap/metaspace. If 7 is the solution, I’m down to upgrade to that, but i dont need another new set of issues.

Our reason is because we are using Mura CMS. They do not currently support Lucee 7. So we are actually in the process (still) of upgrading from Lucee 5.4 to 6.2

We are using 6.2.2.91 and Mura/Masa pretty extensively. Have never had OOM or heap issues. Been pretty solid.

We are still on 5.4. It took us a long time to convert our code from ColdFusion 2016 to Lucee 5.4.x, but is working very stable.
And as far as I know, even more legacy stuff is deprecated in Lucee 7, and we don’t have the resources right now to spend more time on converting code. That’s why we are still postponing the upgrade.

The 2 most annoying issue which block our Lucee 7 migration are:

https://luceeserver.atlassian.net/browse/LDEV-5960

Updated the tickets, we now have an EPIC about 7 upgrade blockers

We’re working on support for Lucee 7 on Masa CMS.

Some projects care more about labels than others and thus won’t upgrade to 7 until it is marked as LTS.

There are fixes for the heap issues LDEV-5903 in the latest 7.0.2 and 6.2.5 snapshots

Can you elaborate? The definition of deprecated with Lucee is more of an opinion, than anything else, backwards compatibility it a high priority for us.
