Resizing CMYK images

Hello,

I have a few applications that resize user-uploaded images and I have run
into some issues with some images: images with the wrong color mode (CYMK,
Color Index) as well as jpg’s saved as png’s. I have been looking into this
blog post by Ben Nadel:

But none of those address the color mode issue. I get an error “Unknown
image type 0”.

I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions to help deal with this issue.
