Railodocs.org and luceedocs.org closing down (?)

HI all,

In view that Lucee now has some lovely documentation being generated at http://docs.lucee.org/ http://docs.lucee.org/ I just wanted to close down railodocs.org http://railodocs.org/ and luceedocs.org http://luceedocs.org/ unless there is some call to keep them alive for whatever reason?

Regards

Mark Drew

Subdomains do not add rank to the domain in general.

Neither does just spamming content as of August 2012.

In a nutshell, if you want to rank higher on google, more organic traffic.

Hi Mark

Lovely as the new docs are, I’ve still been using yours because they
include details of member functionality.

Any chance you could keep them going until the new docs have that too?

Cheers

This makes sense.

Will you be redirecting to docs.lucee.org for a while, or just closing
down? I should think if the site disappears completely, Google should stop
listing its links before too long, I guess.

Last time I checked, docs.lucee.org didn’t have an appropriate Google
presence, but I just checked now and they seem to be improving:

  • “lucee docs listappend” they come second after you;
  • “lucee docs cfabort” they don’t make the first page, whereas you’re
    first

(those two were the first function and tag that popped into my mind)

It might just be down to the fact the site’s still new, I s’pose. But if in
a month it’s still not ranking first or second for everything, some
additional attention might need to be given to the site’s SEO.

Good work for providing an effective interim solution to this, Mark.On Monday, 15 June 2015 10:12:03 UTC+1, Mark Drew wrote:

A goodt solution would be to make a 301 redirect from railodocs.com and
luceedocs.org.

The *best *solution would be to make a 301 redirect from a page on
luceedocs to the corresponding page on docs.lucee.org. For
example http://www.luceedocs.org/function/filecopy should redirect
to FileCopy() :: Lucee Documentation with 301 header.
This way google will index all the page in about a week and you won’t lose
your linkjuice.Il giorno lunedì 15 giugno 2015 11:12:03 UTC+2, Mark Drew ha scritto:

I don’t know the backend of railodocs.org, but probably you are passing
some variables in url scope that are similar to the ones used on
luceedocs.org. I was thinking something like:

// create a querystring to match the one on luceedocs and then

I think thta this could be added in one file and you have the work done.
However as said simply pointing all request to the lucee docs is good
enough to get indexed.Il giorno lunedì 15 giugno 2015 11:12:03 UTC+2, Mark Drew ha scritto:

Are you willing to allow us to download the database, or zip of the site?
I have used it, and being a n00B to the actual development in ColdFusion,
find it highly valuable. On Monday, June 15, 2015 at 5:12:03 AM UTC-4, Mark Drew wrote:
