Hi,
I just migrated Railo to Lucee on my local machine as described here:
https://bitbucket.org/lucee/lucee/wiki/Migrate_from_Railo
Everything seems to work well so far, but I was wondering: Wouldn’t it be
much cleaner to simply uninstall Railo a install Lucee using the new
installer available at http://railo.viviotech.net/ ?
There would be nothing left over from the previous Railo install and it
would also upgrade Tomcat in the process and might be more forward
compatible…
My Railo / Tomcat install is more than one year old and my server will be
down due to HW upgrade this weekend anyway, so I thought I could do it.
I would just migrate my datasources and tomcat’s vhosts, maybe a couple of
admin settings and that should be it.
Any opinion on this ?
Thanks !
Ivan
It was worth it to me. There are some minor differences between the two
installations that will make a clean install more “modern.” Here are some
examples that I’ve noticed:
- The service name changes from railo_ctl to lucee_ctl (on Linux)
- The installation directory changes from /opt/railo to /opt/lucee (on
Linux, I’m guessing Windows has a similar change).
Thanks,

We just did both, a migration on the local machines (windows) and a test
server (linux) and a clean install on another test server (linux).
It worked well, but:
- we forgot to change the jvm settings (locale, Heap etc.) first,
resulting in some instabilities
- somebody changed a setting in tomcat months ago (not in SCM) which was
lost after installation
After we fixed that everything worked fine again.
The installation itself was done by an admin, I don’t know if he had any
problems.Am Donnerstag, 26. Februar 2015 15:04:23 UTC+1 schrieb rot…@smartway.cz:
