Ot: any way to bypass password for a ubuntu vm?

hi,

i created an ubuntu 16.04 virtual machine using Oracle’s virtualbox a while ago and have installed some software on that vm and my host computer is windows 10 and I left that mv up and running.
A few months ago windows 10 crashed and I now forgot the password for a user account for that vm box, it would be very helpful to be able to regain access to that vm,
any ubuntu/linux admin guru here? to offer some suggestion?

thanks.

Reset it.

You can reset the root pw, do a ‘cat /etc/passwd’ to see accounts, etc.

Awesome! JOE !!! You saved me from so much anguish and time, thank YOU so much !!!
I’m very grateful to you for that.
