Installing Lucee on Windows with XAMPP (Apache2) without IIS/Boncode - problem with port

Hello.
I am wondering if I need be concerned with Boncode settings or configuration if I am not using IIS ?

I am unable to get my Apache2.4, Tomcat Lucee iinstall to work properly unless I manually add :8888 after the host in every request to the server. I have reached the end of my ability to explore and diagnose or correct this problem (I’ve tried everything I know of)

Still I’m getting 403 Forbidden errors or blank pages unless I explicitly add the :8888

So this works…
http://localhost:8888/mypages/mypage.cfm

But this does not…
http://localhost/mypages/mypage.cfm

Here is the Proxy section of my Apache httpd.conf

Don’t have much time, but this is what comes to muy mind:

Boncode is for IIS AJP connections only. Because you are using Apache Webserver on Windows, it doesn’t come into play.

You are connecting Tomcat and Apache2 with AJP. Last time I’ve tested that configuration, there was an issue/bug in the Apache2 that wasn’t properly passing the AJP secret (required by default) to Tomcats AJP listener. I would bet the 403 error comes from that. Look to the AJP listener in your Tomcats server.xml configuration: It’s the one with setting of port 8009. I’d try turning the secret requirement off and try again.

Hi again!
Still no luck.

Now I cannot start Lucee because I get an Access Denied error to server.xml trying to even start the server. So I attempted to just set permissions on the tomcat folder (which were read only) to everyone can do everything…but still I get the access denied.

I guess I give up on this install and will just uninstall the entire mess and try reinstaling and starting over (again) for the 5th time lol

I can’t give up because I need this running.
Is it possible to just reinstall everything (Lucee and Xampp) and then just copy the configuration files from the old setup that worked? I made copies of the folders before I started this giant messball.

So I uninstalled Lucee and xampp again and after restarting the computer will reinstall both again. (5th time :slight_smile:

I’m wondering, does it matter the order in which I install them (Lucee forst or xampp forst?)

Here are the versions I’m installing by the way

They both seem to run, but not properly due to configuration issues.

Ok,
So Xampp and Luicee have been reinstalled and I can start apache and mysql in xampp and I can start and stop Lucee service.

I can open the Lucee server Adminstrator but it requires \127.0.0.1:8888
Without that it won’t open and I get
URL not found on this server.

So this is where everything starts to fall apart as I try to add the mod-cfml and proxy statements to the apache httpd.conf

First step

Ensure these lines are UNcommented in http.conf

LoadModule negotiation_module modules/mod_negotiation.so
LoadModule proxy_module modules/mod_proxy.so
LoadModule proxy_ajp_module modules/mod_proxy_ajp.so

Second Step

Add this to the bottom of httpd.conf
UN COMMENT the line # Require ip 127.0.0.1

Download mod_cfml.so and place it in the apache / modules folder

4th step

Add these lines to the bottom of apache 2.4 httpd.conf file

5th step

Go to Lucee > tomcat > conf and open server.xml

Then copy the Shared Key

Step 6

Now Paste that shared key into the line…

Located in the apache httpd conf file then save the file as httpd.conf (NOT httpd.conf.txt)

Step 7
If you are using Lucee in an internal home network not exposed to the outside then you can make sure your basic configuration works by changing the following in the tomcat server.xml file

Change secret required to “False”

After all of the above…when I go to http://127.0.0.1/lucee/admin/server.cfm

I STILL get this…

Lucee-403-forbidden

Do I need to adjust the
tomcat-users.xml file ?
Do I need to change file and folder permissions in the Windows10 file system?

So after several hours of Googling and looking at logs and trying different things, I made it back to square one. (uninstalled everything again then rebooted computer and reinstalled and changed the settings I believe I need to change etc)

If I type 8888 after the host like this…

http://127.0.0.1:8888/lucee/admin/server.cfm?action=debugging.logs

Then it “works”

This “seems” to be a problem with the Proxy
code in apache httpd.conf but I’ve tried evry method I could find on Google and at this web site but the problem persists…ME !!! :slight_smile:

Not sure why the Proxy mentions port 8009 and not 8888 since it doesn’t work with 8009 but does work with 8888
