CFIMAGE - what's new?

Rewriting my question on this issue. To use CFIMAGE in Lucee 7, it appears that I can downgrade the Image Extension for Jakarta EE (Lucee 7+) and use CFIMAGE.

What is the max version of Image Extension for Jakarta EE (Lucee 7+) for Lucee 7.0.4.34?

Is there anything special in Image Extension for Jakarta EE (Lucee 7+) 3.0.1.1 that would be worth running a release of Lucee 7.1.0.2 in a production setting?

And finally, I think what I was dreaming of is the ability for CFIMAGE to read HEIF files or at least get the metadata. Looks like that is still a no go.

We’re using the latest Image extension release 3.0.1.1 with Lucee 7.0.4.34 and have not seen any issues.

I’m not sure why the extension download page claims that 7.1.0.2 is the minimum.

The Image extension 3.0.1.1 is built for the Jakarta-based Lucee 7 platform, and the minimum supported version is 7.1.0.2. While it may work on 7.0.4.34, 7.1.0.2 is the officially supported minimum.
