Cfcontent type excel

This past weekend apparently Microsoft Office had some updates that
prevented the excel output files generated by application/vnd.ms-excel from
being opened by Excel 2010.
Is there a content type available that will produce an excel file that can
be read by excel 2010 or newer versions?

Hi Dale,

We have identified the following workarounds that work.
All of which is outside our application, instead done in Windows /
Microsoft Excel.
We still generate the Excels the same way as before.

  1. Unblock access in File Properties. To do this:
-Right click on the file and choose Properties
-On the General tab, click Unblock
    -Click OK

OR

  1. Disable the Protected View setting within Excel. To do this:
    -Open MS Excel
    -Go to File > Options
-Click Trust Center (from the menu on the left)
-Click the ‘Trust Center Settings’ button
-Click Protected View (from the menu on the left)
-Remove the check mark next to “Enable Protected View for files originating
    from the internet”
    -Click OK
    -Click OK

OR

  1. Remove this specific MS update from the local computer

Hope these helps

We use a variation on this… it downloads a CSV file that can be opened in
your default spreadsheet tool.
