Unable to get files from a root directory

I’m running a application on a home server where Lucee reads my dropbox folder for a list of clients. My OS is macOS Monterey version 12.6. When I created the app I was running macOS Yosemite and every time I’ve moved up the chain of mac OS’s I have to mess with permission settings to be able to access the dropbox folder with my LCF code.

By default Dropbox is installed in your user root directory. In my case its at → Users/hughrainey/Dropbox Folder <—. When I initially created the app I was using ACF and in order to access the folder it looked like the following:

path = "Volumes/Macintosh HD/Users/hughrainey/DropboxFolder"

clientFiles = directoryList(Path)
// shortened directoryList call for brevity

When I switched to Lucee I only had to reach back to the /Users/ folder to gain access dropbox.

My question is: Does anyone know if something changed with Lucee or do I just need to dig deeper into the permissions stuff on my mac?

I’m currently running Lucee

Thanks ya’ll.
