Mail.log vs remoteclient.log

I’ve been trying to find information to help diagnose possible mail issues,
but it seems that when mail is sent out it isn’t reflected in the mail.log
file, but there are (minimal) entries in remoteclient.log. Is this by
design? It would really be nice to log a little more email information,
but log it to the mail.log rather than remoteclient.log. Is this something
I can configure, or am I stuck with it for now? Thanks!
