Lucee 5 RC and/or release ETA?

G’day:
I’ve had a few ppl ask me if I knew what the story was with Lucee 5 ever
going out the door, and have also seen other ppl asking the same question
in general.

Is there any visibility on when LAS might be drawing a line under whatever
new dev is going on, pushing Lucee 5 to RC, then planning to actually
release it as some stage before long?

“Lucee” 5 has been on the boil for really a long time now if we consider
when Railo 4.5 (or whatever vesion of Railo Lucee 4.5 is based on) came
out, and when the next major version of Railo started being discussed…

Hi Adam,

I’ve spoken to Micha about this and ATM there is a problem caused by the
boot delegation which is breaking the logic of OSGi and problems with the
Xerces library. He is working through these issues as quickly as possible
and various people, including myself, are helping him test it. I’m sure you
can appreciate when you have a problem that you are not sure what the
solution is it is difficult to say how long it will take to fix and then
test.

At the moment the plan was to have a final release of Lucee 5 on or around
Lucee’s 1st Birthday at the end of January.

Kind regards,

Andrew

I wonder how much further ahead Lucee would be if Micha had not decided to
do the OSGi re-implementation. Not to worry.

Def. I know I might have sounded like I was giving you the hurry-up before,
but I really wasn’t. Just after some timeframing, as ppl have been
wondering.
